Doccio
Found dying in the street with a belly swollen with worms, hours from the end. He decided to live. He now has a large garden in Miami and another rescued dog for company, and no idea any of it happened.
The dogs
Every dog on this page will be a real dog, photographed where he actually lives, with a name someone actually calls him. That is why most of this page is still empty.
Two weeks
That is how long a dog has out there. Two weeks on that land, in that weather, with what we can carry to them. The ones you see on this page are not waiting comfortably. They are waiting against a clock.
The first one

Found dying in the street with a belly swollen with worms, hours from the end. He decided to live. He now has a large garden in Miami and another rescued dog for company, and no idea any of it happened.
Still waiting
These eight cards are the layout waiting for its dogs. The moment the photographs arrive, each one becomes a named animal you can ask about directly.

A cream coat and a purple collar, photographed indoors on the day she was brought in. We pay for everything — the vet, the medicine, the transport, the flight. Mira needs one thing only: a home.

Grey and wiry, carried out in someone's arms. He did not struggle once. We pay for everything — the vet, the medicine, the transport, the flight. Draco needs one thing only: a home.

Tan and white, lying in the grass while somebody scratched her ear. We pay for everything — the vet, the medicine, the transport, the flight. Aurora needs one thing only: a home.

One of three who sleep together. He is the one who looks up first. We pay for everything — the vet, the medicine, the transport, the flight. Perseus needs one thing only: a home.

Photographed on the straw bales with the others, watching the gate. We pay for everything — the vet, the medicine, the transport, the flight. Callisto needs one thing only: a home.

Small, sandy, and already used to sharing a bale with four others. We pay for everything — the vet, the medicine, the transport, the flight. Andromeda needs one thing only: a home.

Long-eared and steady, greeting whoever crouches down to her level. We pay for everything — the vet, the medicine, the transport, the flight. Bellatrix needs one thing only: a home.

Pale gold, indoors for once, asleep next to a friend. We pay for everything — the vet, the medicine, the transport, the flight. Cygnus needs one thing only: a home.

Black and white, so new that the straw is bigger than he is. We pay for everything — the vet, the medicine, the transport, the flight. Corvus needs one thing only: a home.

Dark-coated, curled among the others where the straw is deepest. We pay for everything — the vet, the medicine, the transport, the flight. Phoenix needs one thing only: a home.

Sleeping in the sun on the bales. He has been waiting the longest. We pay for everything — the vet, the medicine, the transport, the flight. Sol needs one thing only: a home.

Two sisters, always together. We would rather they left together too. We pay for everything — the vet, the medicine, the transport, the flight. Castor & Pollux needs one thing only: a home.

Vega went home. The photograph is the day she left — in a lift, in someone's arms, on her way out.
Homed · no longer waiting

Altair made it too. Indoors now, on a blanket, next to another dog who got out.

How it works
If you already know you can give a dog a home, write now. Matching depends as much on the dog as on the home, and knowing what your home is like lets us think of you the moment the right animal comes off the street.
Be prepared for it to be slow. A puppy cannot fly until it is six months old, and dogs often travel by road to Spain before they fly anywhere. Doccio took the better part of a year to reach Miami.
